     Spiral Chain

Spiral chain closely resembles DNA, twisting around itself in a narrow double-helix. The chain measures about 5mm across. If you twist is in one direction, it takes on the spiral qualities that give the chain its name, but if you allow the chain to untwist, it unwinds and the pattern loosens. Once clasped, however, the spiral chain will keep its twist until you upclasp and untwist it. The single spiral will require some re-twisting every time it is put on, but it only takes a few seconds.

A 23 inch necklace of spiral chain runs $110.

A 15 inch necklace of spiral chain runs $70.

(These standard lengths of necklaces can be adjusted to your preferences at $4.75 an inch. To make payment figures simple, I round to the nearest $5.)

Bracelets are available also at the same price of $4.75 an inch. Customer preferences in bracelet length varies widely, so let me know what length bracelet you would like.

Necklaces and bracelets finish at one end with a sterling silver lobster-claw clasp.

Earrings are also available for the spiral chain pattern at $25 a pair. Because spiral chain will lose its spiral appearence if it hangs free, the chain in earrings is double-wrapped (see picture) to preserve the appearence. Earrings measure about 1 1/4 inches and hang from sterling silver french hooks.

Earrings can be converted to clip-on at your request. Price per pair is $20.

For a closer look at the "double-wrapped" spiral chain pattern, see the image at right. The double-wrapped spiral design is visually less delicate than the single-spiral chain, and costs $10 per inch.

Necklaces and bracelets of double-wrapped spiral chain are also available, so that a set containing earrings can match completely.

A 23-inch necklace of double spiral chain runs $230.

A 15 inch necklace of double spiral chain runs $150.

Notice that the double-spiral chain has a more solid appearance. The advantage of the double-spiral design is that it retains its twist even when you take the piece off. Standard spiral chain, on the other hand, will have to be re-twisted every time it is put on.
